Stella Retsiou, is a member of the lab teaching staff of Music and Movement Education, in the Department of Early Childhood Education and Care of the University of West Attica. She has a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from the University of Athens and a Master’s degree on Education and Human movement from Boston University. For many years she took classes and attended seminars in Greece as well in America, on dance (classical and contemporary) and music (classical and traditional violin) and she has a degree on advanced Music theory from the Halkidonio conservatorium in Athens.
Prior to her appointment to the University in 2019, she taught for many years (1995 – 2019) Physical Education in public primary school emphasizing on music and rhythmic movement. From 2004 until 2019 she also taught music and movement education as an external teaching staff in the Department of Early Childhood Education of the Technological Institution of Athens (TEI). She is the author of two books on music and movement education in Greek language and has also translated an American book on movement education in Greek language. She has participated as a lecturer in many Greek and international conferences and articles of hers have been edited in scientific periodicals and volumes of conference proceedings.
