Christina Sotiriou is a graduate of the Department of Music Studies of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and a doctor (Ph.D.) of the Department of Preschool Education of the University of Ioannina in the field of Music Pedagogy with an excellent grade on the topic: ” Investigation – Evaluation of Music Aptitude of students in Music Education”1. She studied at the Scuola di Paleografia e Filologia Musicale, Facoltà di Musicologia, (Università degli Studi di Pavia), based in Cremona, Italy for three years (1989–1992). Participates and succeeds in the Postgraduate competitions of the Academic year 1997 – 1998 of the State Scholarship Foundation in the Specialization of Historical Musicology. She holds Degrees in Harmony, Piano, Counterpoint and a Piano Diploma. She has also studied Choir Conducting and has participated as a Choir for more than 20 years in many choirs. She has a rich artistic activity with participation in choirs in many countries, as she has been a member and judge in many committees of song and choral music. Participates in the annual curriculum of the Carl Orff system, Morality’s School in collaboration with the Salzburg – Institute of Austria. She also participates in a Program organized by the Ministry of Education and Religions with the theme: “Education in the Interdisciplinary communication and multifaceted dimension of modern teaching practice” (150 hours). Also, she participates in a Training Program of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens to Enhance the Educational Competence of Adult Educators of Non-Formal Education, lasting 160 hours 

She has taught in Conservatories and Colleges, piano education and music theory, in private and public schools of primary and secondary education, in Universities in Public Vocational Training Institutes. Specifically, in the Pedagogical Department of Primary Education of Ioannina Music-Motor Education, in the Department of Preschool Education of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, in the Pedagogical Department of Kindergarten Teachers of the University of Ioannina, in the Department of Nursing for 4 years for Music Pedagogy, at the Music School of Ioannina and in other educational structures. She was appointed to Public Secondary Education in October 1997 as a Music Teacher in the Prefecture of Ioannina until April 2019. During these years she taught Piano at the Music School of Ioannina for nine years where he organized many music events.  From April 23, 2019 she took up service at the University of West Attica in the position of Laboratory Teaching Staff of Music Pedagogy in the Department of Education and Care in Early Childhood.  

She has participated in many research projects, is fluent in Italian and English. She is the founder of two European E-Twinning Programs in 2017 where she was awarded a European quality label for our work. It handles computers perfectly. She has published scientific articles and has presented several papers at scientific conferences nationwide and internationally in relation to music teaching and choral music. She has attended many Conferences, Symposia, Seminars, Programs related to Music Pedagogy, Art, Choir Music, Preschool Education, Theatrical Education, Music-Motor Education. She was also the President, Judge of the Committee, selection of students in choir competitions, orchestras, selection of students in Music Schools, Member of the Organizing Committee of the 30th ISME World Congress. In addition to her teaching duties at the University of West Attica, she is a Member of many Administrative Committees. She is a regular member since 1997 of the “Hellenic Association for Music Education”, the Italian Association of Music Theory and Learning by Edwin E. Gordon (Associazione Italiana Gordon per l’ Apprendimento Musicale – AIGAM) as well as the Italian Association for Music Education (Italian Society for Music Education – SIEM). Also, she has also enrolled at Orff Mozarteum University in 2016, at the European Association for Music in Schools (EAS), (2014) and at the International Society for Music Education ISME (International Society for Music Education) since 2011. She is a regular member of Gordon Institute for Music Learning (GIML) & in Accademia Edu. https://uniwa.academia.edu/ChristinaSotiriou 

Her research interests include: the development of new strategies and models of music teaching, the control of their application through experimental research, the study and evaluation of various methods of teaching music mainly for early infants, the research of music developmental psychology, Music aptitude, Music Learning Theory, Advanced Measures of Music Audiation, improvisation and composition, vocal exploration, choral practice.
