Mission and Philosophy

The Department of Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) belongs to the School of Administrative, Economic and Social Sciences of the University of West Attica and is dedicated to the study, research and promotion of the scientific field of Early Childhood Education and Care in the field of Humanities in general. Teaching and research are the main two foundational pillars of the Department.

The main mission of the Department is the development of knowledge, skills and abilities as well as the understanding and application of pedagogical methods by the students as the necessary accomplishments that ensure their educational and scientific competency towards successful professional careers and development.

Upon the completion of their studies, graduates of the Department, become competent and can work in all fields of knowledge concerning early childhood education and care, either independently or in collaboration with other scientists. Graduates of the Department, after the completion of their studies, will be able to develop critical thinking and use methods and tools of scientific research so that will be able to continue their studies, if they wish, at postgraduate level in related fields of knowledge.

Studies in the Department are characterized by interdisciplinary and updated orientation and provide students with opportunities to cultivate individual inclinations and interests.
