According to the article 21 of Law 4521/2018, a Research Ethics Committee is established and operates in each University, in order to inform and sensitize the members of the University community on ethical issues and to provide a guarantee of the reliability of the research projects conducted. The Committee checks whether a research project is carried out with respect for the dignity of human beings and the autonomy of the persons involved and safeguards their privacy and personal data as well the natural and cultural environment. It assists in the harmonization of the University’s research practices with the updated legislation, directives and rules of the European Union and international laws and rules on bioethics and ethical conduct of scientific research.
